About the artist

Eric Robison’s paintings are hybrid between animation and fine art. “ It is not one or the other, he somehow makes it work.” His expressionistic pieces gave the world all the colors, emotions and energy, and found international fame in Europe, Asia, as well as in the US . When Eric graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design, he began his career as an artist. He was hired by Walt Disney Imagineering as a concept designer. He worked on projects associated with Disneyland Resort Paris, Disneyland Resort Tokyo, Walt Disney World Resort, and of course, Disneyland Resort California. His unique paintings of the classic Disney characters were discovered by Imagineering President, Marty Sklar. Since then, he has become a best-selling artist in Disney’s theme parks, galleries, and stores. In 2001, Eric was commissioned by Disneyland to create 100 Mickey Mouse portraits for Disneyland’s 100th birthday of Walt. This exhibit opened in 2002 and sold out in 3 weeks. According to Eric, “This was a dream project and an honor to represent Walt’s wonderful creation: Mickey Mouse, an American icon. When I received the proposal from the Walt Disney Company to paint 100 Mickey’s , I packed up my paints and brushes and flew to a little island in the Caribbean. Inspired by nature’s colors — and the occasional plunge in the river — I returned two weeks later with the first 21 mice. That was the easy part. The next 79 were more challenging and took 16 months to finish. The challenge was to make each one a different pose, style, or medium, as well as paying homage to the history of Mickey Mouse. ” Following up on the 100 Mickeys’ success was his interpretations of 50 Donald Ducks. It was commissioned for the grand opening of the New York Disney store on 5th Avenue. In May 2019 to Feb 2020, The Walt Disney Family Museum presents Mickey Mouse: From Walt to the World. The exhibition includes the iconic works by prominent artists such as Andy Warhol, Wayne Thiebaud,..... as well as works by Eric Robison and many others. Today, Eric Robison has devoted his energy to create his own characters and stories. “ I still get excited that my crazy , loose expressions that I created in my studio alone, to out to the World and make people smile…. And I want the world to remember ma as an artis that gave the world all the colors and emotions and energy that I could”. Eric
